French Beans with coconut....

I usually cooked green beans with either soaked chanadal or kobbari karam.I found this particular recipe of french beans in a food blog "Mahanandi".Once my friend  recommended Mahanandi food blog to me.When i visited that blog i felt so happy,it was well written and had beautiful pictures of food.Even the recipes were simple and tasty.Visting the blog whenever home food became monotonus became a routine.I want to take this as an opportunity to thank Indira of Mahanandi for sharing the recipes...with simple instuctions. This recipe i tried and was huge hit with my family.

Green Beans

Ingredients:

Green beans chopped

1 Onion chopped

1 Garlic clove minced

Green chillies  3-4 cut length wise

Coconut grated fresh or dry

Heat a tablespoon oil in a skillet, when the oil is hot add chanadal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and broken red chillies. When the mustard seeds to start splutter add the chopped onion, green chillies and minced garlic clove. When the onion get cooked add the beans.Add half a teaspoon turmeric and a teaspoon salt and saute so that salt is spread evenly to all the beans.Cover and cook on medium heat...sauting in between so that they dont get burned. When the beans are cooked add the coconut and red chillie powder, adjust the salt.Take off the lid, keep sauting for few more minutes and turn of the heat and garnish with cilantro leaves. We can also use the coconut ,green chillie paste instaed of adding them separetly and omit adding red chillie powder too,but somehow i liked this way better.Serve hot with white rice or roti.

Note:Tried the same recipe with Tindora/Dondakaya and it was also equally good.
