Guacamole

Avocado, when i was in India i didnt had any idea what this fruit was. When i came to US ,one of my cousin introduced this healthy fruit to me.However it didnt appeal to me then...but slowly as the days passed by ,and i kept knocking into this beauty and kept hearing about her wonderful charisma.......had to give her another try.But glad i did....after i ate it second time..i thought it was not that bad.But was willing to give it another shot. After i ate it the third time....it started to look more appleaing. Now i can eat it anytime and enjoy the buttery flavoured fruit to my hearts content.Cut it and remove the seed, and have it with a pinch of salt and pepper or try making  guacamole.Any ways  dont miss on this fruit.

Avocados

Ingredients:

Avocado 1

Small Onion 1

Tomato 1

Greenchillies   4

Lemon jiuce 2 tbs

Cilantro

Cut the Avocado ,discard the seed.Scoop the pulp and mash with a fork,so that the pulp becomes sligtly chunky, not into a smooth paste.Add finely chopped onion, finely chopped tomato ,finely chopped fresh cilantro leaves,1 teaspoon salt, half  teaspoon pepper and the lime juice.Mix all the ingredients with a spoon.Taste ,adjust the salt accoridngly.TaDa your guacamole is ready. You can have it as a dip with chips. But i usually make it to eat with roti.It tastes good.

Note:It is better to prepare it right before eating,as the color of guacamole  may change due to oxidation.

Nutritional value: Avocados are high in valuable, health-promoting fats. For a typical avocado:

About 75% of an avocado's calories come from fat, most of which is monounsaturated fat.

Avocados also have 60% more potassium than bananas. They are rich in B vitamins, as well as vitamin E and vitamin K.

Avocados have a high fiber content among fruits – including 75% insoluble and 25% soluble fiber.

A fatty triol (fatty alcohol) with one double bond, avocadene (16-heptadecene-1,2,4-triol), is found in avocado.

High avocado intake has been shown to have a beneficial effect on blood serum cholesterol levels. Specifically, after a seven-day diet rich in avocados, mild hypercholesterolemia patients showed a 17% decrease in total serum cholesterol levels. These subjects also showed a 22% decrease in both LDL (harmful cholesterol) and triglyceride levels and 11% increase in HDL (helpful cholesterol) levels.[31] Additionally a Japanese team synthesised the four chiral components, and identified (2R, 4R)-16-heptadecene-1, 2, 4-triol as a natural antibacterial component.
