Beerakaya Pachadi

Roti pachadi is our familys must have in get togethers.Party or no party i try to make once in week with the available vegetables.Beerakaya pachadi is an all time favorite.

Ingredients:

  • Beerakaya 1 peeled and cut into chunks

  • Tomato 1

  • green chillies 8

  • tamarindpaste 1 spoon

  • cumin 1tsp

  • garlic 1

  • curry leaves

  • coriander

Take a skillet with 1tbsp oil and when the oil gets heated add the beerakaya chunks and the chillies.on medium heat fry them till the berakaya losses the water content and looks wilted.(Tomato is an optional if you want you can omit it).Cut the the tomato into chunks and in another skillet fry the tomato chunks in a teaspoon of oil.Keep frying until the tomato looses its raw flavor.Take them all in a mixie jar, making sure that all the contents are not too hot.Add the tamarind paste and salt.Keep the button in one and turn on the mixer for halfa minute(making sure that the contents are mixed and coarsely blended) add cumin seeds and garlic cloves and switch on the mixer again. We have to see that it doesnt not become a smooth paste.Take one spoon oil in a skillet and heat it add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chanadal, broken red chillie.Crush a garlic clove and add. When the mustard seeds start to spultter add the curry leaves.Switch of the heat.Add the content from the mixie jar to the skillet.Garnish with coriander.Tastes good with rice or chapatti.

hey! another Andhra special ;)
I love Beerakaya pachadi. But I haven't tried it with tomato. Roti pachadi with hot rice and a tea spoon of ghee is so heavenly!
